Why do our Patients immediately FALL IN LOVE with their new Glasses?
Why we don’t carry “plastic” glasses!
I’ve had a blast creating a hidden gem within San Antonio – an office unlike any other local optical – where we can proudly say we have the BEST when it comes to eyewear! I know that is a bold statement but it is not one announced on a whim. I decided years ago when Vista Vision was in its beginning stages that I would carry through my standard of the highest eyecare into our optical, and so I was lead into the wonderful world of handmade independent frames.
What it takes to make a GREAT pair of glasses …
I hear all too often from patients new to my office that they’ve never enjoyed wearing glasses before. They “just don’t like wearing glasses,” or they “can never find a pair they like,” or “I see better out of my contact lenses.” And yes, I’d have to agree that without a properly fit frame and a well-made pair of prescription lenses that this would be the case for most people out there!
Should you be worried about Blue Light? (And what is “blue light”?)
The average adult spends 9 hours a day on digital devices and our children are not far behind. Children between the ages of eight and 18 spend just under 8 hours a day with digital media. When the use of more than one digital device at a time is considered, they spend more than 10 ½ hours a day with digital technologies!!! Time on digital devices exposes our eyes to higher levels of “blue light,” leading to digital eye strain, sleep problems, blurred vision, headaches, and neck and shoulder pain.
UV protection and your eyes … why it’s a smart choice, especially living in San Antonio!
Like most San Antonians I love our Winters, I love our Springs, I love our Falls, heck, I even love our Summers! And what do I love about our seasons?? Sunshine, sunshine, and more sunshine! Ok, so we did get about 2 inches of snowfall this past December, but that was the first accumulation in over 30 years (and wasn’t it just a little bit of fun playing outside and building a Snowman with our kids?)But in all seriousness, living in San Antonio puts us at risk for higher UV exposure compared to other more northern parts of the US.
Why you probably haven’t heard of our eyeglass designers … (But more importantly, why do we choose to carry them?)
We love the moment someone walks into our office. We are still “new”, having opened our doors in March 2017, so for most people walking into Vista Vision it is their first time. We meet a lot of nice strangers who quickly become our new friends. This is just one beautiful benefit of running a small business. What never gets old though is what we routinely hear, “Wow, your optical is so beautiful!” and “I’ve never seen glasses like this before. The color, the styles, this is definitely different from the other stores I’ve been in.”
